What is accessibility?

Why does accessibility matter?
From June 28, 2025, every business operating in the EU will be required to follow the European Accessibility Act (EAA). This is an important move to ensure people with disabilities have equal access to digital products and services. It means your website and applications must be adapted to meet at least the AA level of the WCAG 2.1 standard.
However, accessibility is more than just rules. It’s a sign of respect for all your users. When a website or an app is accessible, it’s also more intuitive and easier for everyone to use. It’s better to see accessibility not as a chore, but as a core part of great, modern design.
A quick tip: We recommend you start designing with WCAG 2.2 in mind. It's the newest version of the guidelines, created to better serve mobile users and those with cognitive disabilities.
